Jeremy “Weed” Sorenson

DIRECTOR, GUARD & RESERVE AFFAIRS
United States Air Force Reserve

Jeremy Sorenson grew up in a US Air Force family, living in multiple locations stateside and abroad.

Jeremy enlisted in the Air National Guard in 1999, serving initially as a firefighter. He then earned his commission and served as a fighter pilot, flying the F-16 and A-10 on multiple combat deployments. Jeremy’s unique military experience includes enlisted and commissioned service, assignment to multiple Air National Guard units, the Air Force Reserve, and Active Duty Air Force units. Jeremy served as a Drill Status Guardsman (DSG), Traditional Reservist (TR), Active Guard Reserve (AGR), and Individual Mobilization Augmentee (IMA).

During Jeremy’s military career, he witnessed unacceptable treatment and neglect of military service members injured in the line of duty. When one of Jeremy’s recruits was abandoned by the US Air Force Reserve following an injury, Jeremy chose to take action. Despite being in a different component and geographically separated, Jeremy worked tirelessly for five years to secure medical care, military status, and proper retirement due to this Airman.

During his military service and following retirement, Jeremy has engaged in multiple efforts to protect military service members from abuse by government agencies and corporations.

Jeremy has been leading a charge to stop the Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve from illegally denying Airmen proper medical care, military status, benefits, entitlements, and retirement eligibility following illnesses and injuries incurred In the Line of Duty.

Federal Law requires Reserve Component (RC) service members (National Guard & Reserve) to be provided In the Line of Duty Determinations (ILOD) when they incur illnesses, injuries, or diseases while serving in military status. It requires service members to be retained on Active Duty until they are returned to duty, separated, or retired. The DOD has chosen to ignore Federal Law.

Jeremy has uncovered concerted efforts throughout multiple DOD entities to deny injured service members proper ILOD Determinations and to deny these service members retention on Active Duty, as United States Code requires.

The willful violations of law by the DOD continue to destroy service members' health and well-being and have caused countless physical and mental health complications, including suicide.
